Alen Barhorst
Mechanical Engineering and Design
Dr. Alan Barhorst is a Professor and Department Head of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is a Professional Engineer in Texas and is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Barhorst has had Summer and Leave Appointments at Sandia National Labs, Los Alamos National Labs, NASA JSC, and the Institute for Computational Engineering and Science at UT Austin. His research interests are broad in areas as diverse as Bio-Mechanics, Controls, Dynamics, Engineering in Medicine and Healthcare, Fluid-Structure Interaction, Manufacturing, Nondestructive Evaluation, Robotics, Signal Processing, Structural Health Monitoring, and Vibrations. He adviso Teverra on mechanical design and prototyping downhole tools. He received his BS (’84), MS (’89), and PhD (’91) all from Texas A&M University.
