AUSTIN, TX – On Wednesday, April 2, Dr. Hamed Soroush, CEO of Teverra, joined an expert panel at UT Energy Week 2025 to discuss the expanding role of geothermal energy in the global energy transition. The session, titled "The Geothermal Opportunity: From Added Capacity to Energy Abundance," featured industry leaders Silviu Livescu (CTO, BedRock Energy), Lucy Darago (CCO, XGS Energy), and Drew Nelson (VP of Policy, Project InnerSpace) in a compelling discussion on the future of geothermal.

Dr. Soroush emphasized the potential of advanced subsurface technologies to accelerate geothermal deployment and improve economics. He highlighted EGS, AGS, innovative drilling techniques, and de-risking subsurface with advanced geomechanics as key enablers for scaling geothermal from niche applications to a mainstream, reliable energy source.

The panel explored strategies for transferring oil and gas technologies and infrastructure to geothermal, overcoming economic and technical barriers, the role of policy incentives, and how geothermal can complement other renewable energy sources to achieve 24/7 clean power generation.
